The AKS Dallas Winter Bead & Jewelry Show will reveal the newest trends to the most discriminating bead and jewelry enthusiast. If you make your own jewelry, you’ve got to come to this show! BIO.
Naomi Fron is the designer/creator and owner of NJBF CREATIONS and has been creating her beautiful wire jewelry for 30 years. She is self taught and over the years has developed her own style combining traditional and sculptured wire wrapping styles. Her main goal in designing is to highlight and showcase the stone she is using in elegant and delicate pieces
She began her business in 1985 in Tennessee after having learned how to cut and polish gemstones. She wanted to learn how to make settings to show them off and she chose wire because any size or shape stone could be utilized. Ever since then she has been designing & creating her wire jewelry, traveling from Mass. to Florida, exhibiting and selling at Arts & Craft Shows and at Gem & Mineral Shows and has loved sharing her passion for this art form.
She moved back to Texas in 2009 to marry her high school sweetheart and to share her talents with her home state. You can see some of her beautiful jewelry at www.NJBFCreations.com and at her Etsy Shop, NJBF Jewelry Creations.
BASIC BEADING ~ $30 FOR 2 HOUR CLASS
In this two hour course, you will learn:
> the different types of wire and cord
> how to begin a strand
> how to use Guardians and how to attach clasps
> how to finish off your necklace.
> how to use memory wire and make a bracelet.
The cost of the course will include memory wire for the bracelet and two Guardians and Crimp Beads.
BASIC BEADING SUPPLIES
You can purchase these from Beading House at the show.
>49 Strand Beadalon .018
>2 clasps
>2 toggles or one toggle and one clasp for necklace
>A bead board – to design your necklace
You can purchase these at the show or bring your own.
Beads of your choice- we will be making a memory wire bracelet and a beaded necklace. If we have time you can make a pair of earrings. I have hypo-allergenic earwires.
The 2 strand memory wire bracelet uses about 100 4-6mm beads. The number of beads that you will need for your necklace will depend on how long you want to make it and the size beads you want to use.
I will have some of these you can use for the class:
>Various pliers- but do bring your own if you have them
>Cutters for wire
>Crimping tool
>Measuring tape – ruler
>Bracelet Mandrel
>Hammers
Your cost for the class includes a kit containing enough Memory Wire to make a 2 strand Bracelet, 2 Guardians and 2 Crimp Beads.
BASIC WIRE WRAPPING ~ $45 FOR 2 HOUR CLASS
In this two hour course, you will learn:
> different types of wire
> different sizes and shapes of wire
> hardness of wire and it’s importance
> how to determine how much wire you need for your project
> tools to use with wire wrapping
> how to shape & bend wire
> how to make a bracelet
> how to make a traditional pendant
Cost of course will include Copper Wire to make a Traditional Pendant.
BASIC WIRE-WRAPPING SUPPLIES
>Round Nose Pliers
>Flat Nose Pliers
>Bent Nose Pliers
>Wire Cutters
>Flat File
>Tape measure or ruler
Your cost for the class includes a kit containing enough Copper Wire to make a traditional wire wrapped pendant and a wire bracelet.
I am using Copper for several reasons; it is inexpensive and the temper is similar to dead soft Sterling or 14 Kt. Gold-filled Wire and is easy to work.
